Romeo and Juliet School Play Review

One of Shakespeare's best known plays is Romeo and Juliet. Although the language can be hard to understand, the meaning of the words are easier to understand. The meaning is even clearer when the play is acted out. The performance of "Romeo and Juliet" at the high school was great. It was a show that you would not want to miss.

One of the factors that made this play great was the fact that the cast had little trouble remembering their lines. Listening to one of Shakespeare's plays is difficult when the actors themselves do not know their part. Listening to the school play, you could understand every word they said. There was no issue of words being skipped or mispronounced. Even if somebody forgot their line, it only took them a second to remember. Not only did they remember their lines, but they also added emotion to their lines, making the performance even better. One of the actors who stood out when it came to emotion was Jasmine Hall, who played Tybalt in this performance. At the part of the play were Tybalt found out that Romeo was at the party, you could tell that Tybalt was really frustrated with not being allowed to get rid of Romeo. Many of the other actors also had emotion when they were saying their lines.

The thing that really made this performance great was the obvious devotion to the play. The fact that they could memorize their lines showed this. In order for the cast members to have memorized these lines, they would have needed to practice a lot more than they would have for any other play. According the the pamphlet given before the play, the actors had to also learn what they were saying in order to interact better with the text. The amount of practice they needed to act out their parts were also noticeable. Whenever there was sword fighting, the actors knew what they were doing. At one point, you see Paris (played by Shubham Mondal) jump over a sword swung at his legs. In order for him to have timed that correctly, he would have needed a lot of practice. They obviously practiced a lot and this was shown in their great performance.

Overall, this was a great show to see. For such a difficult play, the actors made it seem like performing it was easy. Their performance was even better than anyone could have imagined. This is a show that if you ever got a chance to see it, you would definitely want to go to the show.
