Assignment Details

Argument of Evaluation
Activity
We all have movies that we think “are the best” or “good” or “classics,” but what do those even mean? For this assignment, you will argue that a movie (of your choice) is or is not one of these things. This is an argument of evaluation.
Role: You are a movie review blogger
Situation: You have decided to defend a movie of your choice against its critics or argue that all your readers need to watch this movie because it is so good.
Audience: Movie-watchers, blog-readers (your peers)
Goal: To convince the reader that the movie is “the best,” “good,” or a “classic”; or, on the other side, that a movie is “the worst,” “bad,” or unworthy of the title “classic” that it may have.
Suggestion: Watch a new movie! Here’s an excuse to watch a movie for homework!Google the top 100 films according to the American Film Institute (AFI) for a suggestion.
*Do not choose any movies that are seriously inappropriate—should you need a definition of that, speak to me.
